Note: A free software update that came out just as this review was being edited added the Japanese versions of Contra (Arcade), Super Contra (Arcade), Super C, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Contra (GameBoy), and Contra: Hard Corps. I like the inclusion of the many versions from a historical point of view, but I also wish there were more titles in the package. If you remove the changes (and consider arcade Contra and NES/Famicom Contra as the same games), there are just five titles in this collection, which may prove disappointing to those who don't care about regional differences. Unfortunately, this game bundle lacks the wonderful extras found in SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and other high-end historical releases. Well, it's kind of 10 games-more on that in a bit. Included in the package are 10 games plucked from 8- and 16-bit generations. Instead, it's a compilation released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a once-revered video game publisher: Konami.
